OUR PROGRAM FOR PREVIOUS YEARS

TWO FORCES THAT CREATE ONE ANOTHER

26.04.21 – 22.05.21, Gallery +359, 13 Galichitsa Str

Exhibition of Sevda Semer

Since her appearance on the Bulgarian art scene, Sevda Semer has thoroughly and consistently explored her inner world and presented it in various projects. Personal emotions, subjective perceptions of reality and the search for identity in the form of diaries, drawings and installations in which the artist’s voice is present, outline an intimate field of communication with the audience. With the exhibition, Sevda Semer focuses on the culture of hypocritical, devoid of depth, acceptance of difference, in which words serve only to express political correctness. At the heart of the exhibition is a text from which can be read only parts of sentences that have survived under the fierce strikethrough and layering of drawings on them. In “Two Forces That Create One Another”, Sevda Semer again includes a powerful video story about an important moment in her life, but the project sets goals that are much more comprehensive than declaring a hidden intimate nature.

LUCID EYES

13.05.21 – 10.06.21, Synthesis Gallery, 55 Vasil Levski Blvd.

Exhibition of Veselina Nikolaeva

The new exhibition of Veselina Nikolaeva, one of the leading contemporary Bulgarian photographers working with narrative photography, creates the feeling of immediate, human closeness. Human-sized portraits look more alive than many people we meet in our daily lives – especially now surgical face masks are being added to social ones. On the territory of the exhibition the warmth and openness are not hidden under layers of social rules. The basic rule is simple – trust for trust. The people in the photos allow the viewer into their inner world, but also seem to look into his/hers. The exhibition includes 21 portraits and 2 landscapes, shots from the dreamed outside world.

CHARLATAN

31.05.21, 20:30, Cinema House (Dom na Kinoto)

Czech Republic-Ireland-Slovakia-Poland, 2020, 114 min.

Director: Agnieszka Holland

A heartbreaking story about a man endowed with extraordinary abilities, developing against the background of totalitarianism in the 1950s. The film is inspired by the story of the healer Jan Mikolašek, who uses his skills to heal everyone, whether poor or famous. Among his high-ranking patients is Czechoslovak President Antonin Zapotocki. After Zapotocki dies, Mikolasek is arrested by the communist regime.

SHOW ME YOUR COLORS

01.06.21 – 30.06.21, Rainbow Hub, 22A Dondukov Blvd.

Group exhibition with the participation of: Elisaveta Vacheva, Kristian Chalakov, Radina Gancheva, Paper Daddy aka Kaloyan Rusinov, Petya Deneva, Teodora Doncheva – Leak, Yasen Zgurovski

Six queer artists receive one color from the spectrum of the rainbow, through which they present their essence. The result is a kind of common canvas, built of the colorful identities of the authors – free, bold, super-sexual, romantic, tender, fun, bright and challenging. The unique rainbow finds its most suitable place – in the community LGBTI center Rainbow Hub, where it will remain after the end of the exhibition. Rainbow Hub also shows photographs of Radina Gancheva, which seem to erase the boundaries between the polarity of gender identity and expression in the face of the model in front of the lens.

EUROPEAN CINEMA FOR NON-TRADITIONALISTS – FILM DIRECTORS “FOR” THE RAINBOW

Elitsa Mateeva, Black Flamingo Publishing

A bold book. Declaring yourself outside the mainstream in a cultural environment, exploring topics beyond what is understood as traditional, is not for everyone. You have to be honest, and a little romantic at heart, to say that you are not afraid of love in all its colors. And there are about 60 of them here – that’s how many nuances Elitsa Mateeva painted, looking through the prism of European cinema from 1919 until today.

Be curious! Cross your personal boundaries and you will find that flowers grow outside your garden, that there is life on other planets … And in the end, with a little effort, everyone can be one of the others.

LOVE WILL NOT TEAR US APART

21.06.21 – 27.06.21, Credo Bonum Gallery, 2 Slavyanska Str., Entrance from Benkovski

Exhibition-action of Borislava Made It & Stalker since 1993 This exhibition marks a small thing in life. Something that cannot be touched, seen or heard … in fact, this thing is a part of us. And you can say to yourself that this is just a feeling, but what a feeling, we would tell you… LOVE. And no, we’re not talking about worn-out love from movies, novels and poems. We want to celebrate the moments of pure love. When you paint on a napkin, when you have dinner, when you are bored to death, but at the same time you have butterflies in your stomach, when you pet your dog, you smell your boyfriend’s hair, you look at yourself in the mirror.

Yes, that’s exactly what we’re talking about.

LOVE.
