Sofia Pride received yet another letter of support for the upcoming rally on June 9th! The letter is from Mr Erlend Horn, the Deputy Mayor for Social Affairs, Inclusion & Diversity, who is also responsible for issues within the LGBTI community in Bergen, Norway.
If you want to see the rainbow, you have to endure the rain as well. In Bergen we are used to bad weather and are always dreaming of the rainbow – Erlend Horn.
Bergen is the second largest city in Norway and one of the most accepting places in Europe. In 1993 for the very first time the country allowed same-sex couples to enter registered partnerships, but were denied church weddings or adopting children. In 2004 a gender-neutral marriage bill was proposed but later withdrawn. However, 5 years later Norway became the 6th country in the world, where people from the same sex could get married.
We heartily thank Mr Horn and the LGBTI community in Bergen!
